Working outdoors in Woodland is a unique and inspiring approach to learning which compliments children’s learning in the traditional classroom. Children are provided opportunities to develop through positive outdoor experiences.

In The Woodland This Term

The children in Classes 9, 10 and 11 used their woodland session to gather inspiration for a descriptive piece of writing about autumn. They made notes of what they could see, hear and smell. They thought of verbs, similes and fronted adverbials to include. They discussed how the woodland made them feel and why this was so.

The children in Classes 3, 4 and 5 have been making colour pallets. They looked at the different types of leaves. The children talked about the autumn colours and searched for leaves to create a pallet. They will then repeat the activity in the winter, spring and summer to compare their findings.

Nursery went to the woodland to explore area and collect acorns, sticks, leaves and stones.
